(JaiChai) Science Fiction: “My Billionth Birthday” — from the “Crestfallen Reflection” Collection
“JaiChai — 4.0 Post Human”
Today, exactly a millenia of a millenia ago (Old Earth Standard), I was born in a delivery room of a modern day hospital of the 21st Century.
My parents were the last generation of 100%, fully human individuals.
“Happy birthday to me?” I said to myself.
Since the nearest T1SB (Tier 1 Sentient Being) is over 1,000 light years away, I knew that no one would “hear” my thought and respond for over 2,000 light years.
Oh well, that’s the way it is when there are so few of us T1SBs in existence.
My mind revisits my first few thousand years of existence.
I remember how naive I was as a human in the 21st Century; always preoccupied with death and life extension. No matter how experimental (or illegal) the “Animus Eterna” technology was, I was the first willing guinea pig.
Eventually, I became “Me 2.0”, a totally Post Human being with less than 1% of original human tissue.
As a 2.0, I witnessed multi-century long wars, the fall of a dozen empires and finally, the mass exodus of 12 rich Post Humans — including myself — from an Earth gasping its last dying breaths.
We made the 500-year journey to JC2021, a planetoid in the Beta Reticulum Galaxy that appeared to be perfectly suitable for 2.0 Post Humans.
During the transit, we kept ourselves busy; always finding new ways to improve our structures and processing capabilities.
By the time we reached JC2021, we had evolved into 3.0 Post Humans; meaning, our average lifespans were in the mid-millions of years and could harness Star Energy and communicate to other 3.0s anywhere in our galaxy.
It took a few thousand years to evolve into T1SB (basically, 4.0 Post Humans).
It is literally impossible to explain what I am to you. Suffice it to say that, for better or worse, beings like me are the “Stewards of the Life Continuum”.
A billion years ago, I was a human on Earth; a mere mortal dreaming of living forever.
Now on my billionth birthday, my only wish is totally impossible even for a being such as myself.
What is my wish?
TBH, for just one more time, I would love to enjoy some good Thai food, drink some Japanese beer, feel the green grass between my toes, play Tug-of-War with my puppy and make love to the only woman I have ever loved; unfortunately, she died from an algorithmic virus during a routine Soma Upgrade when she was only 200 hundred years old…
“Happy Birthday to me, indeed.”
