Mars’ ancient history rhymes with Earth’s.
In prehistoric times, all the great tribes migrated to the safe southern lands before the torrential rains of the Martian Monsoon Season.
Among the thousands of different Martian tribes and tens of thousands of separate Clans within each tribe was one common belief:
“When the strong survive and the weak perish, the Gods are happy.”
This directly influenced how the early Martians viewed everything in life.
The massive migrations were seen as another test by the Gods.
If you pass, you live. If not, you are not worthy to live another Martian day.
The trip was a test, indeed.
The journey was long and arduous, covering nearly half of the planet’s ~3,680 mile circumference.
Twice a day, every Tribal Leader and Shaman repeated this mantra;
“All must travel on their own accord. Accepting or giving aid to those unable to travel is strictly forbidden.”
If someone was caught aiding a struggling traveler, both the helper and helpee were immediately stoned to death.
An individual’s death by group stoning was the ultimate shame for any Clan.
It showed a lack of strength and a total disrespect for the Honorable Martian Way of Life.
That’s why suicide was honorable.
It was the last respectable act in one’s life that contributed to the survival of the Clan.
In fact, before each migration, a suicide festival was held.
Great feasts were prepared in honor of the noble Clan members brave enough to admit their inability to join the migration and would rather take their own lives.
Another deep-seated, Martian belief was that life was too precious waste anything.
Guess what happened to anyone caught in the heinous, sacrilegious act of waste?
Yup, you guessed it — a swift death by group stoning.
That’s why another deeply ingrained tradition was honorable cannibalism…
[Submitted for your amusement.]
May you and yours be well and loving life today.
