“Oblivion” is a political allegory about a lowly “technician” sending unmanned drones to hunt and kill a demonized, alien Other — until it forgets that it ever was.

Oblivion” is set in the year 2077, 60 years after an alien invasion rendered the Earth largely uninhabitable.

Tom Cruise stars as Jack Harper, one of a handful of people left on the planet.
