You ever notice that when someone prefaces with, “Don’t get me wrong, but…”, you instantly know that you will? In fact, many people begin showing their claws and fangs before the sentence is even finished. Lol!

But instead of getting their feathers ruffled, wise people consider ALL advice and respond, not knee-jerk react, appropriately.

That’s why I really got to hand it to @lolled (torum.com).

Here’s what happened.

“Providing unsolicited advice to an artist, author or practitioners of any emotionally charged endeavor is a potentially volatile thing. Special care must be taken not to offend these highly creative and sensitive souls.” — Dr. E.A.P. (my late father and mentor)

And that’s exactly what I did today with @lolled.

I ended my long-winded, “friendly advice” with this:

“I know I am offering this advice unsolicited.

And you have every right to tell me to mind my own business or to kiss your a$$ and go to Hell.

It’s just that I really appreciate your posts and want them to continue shining above the masses of mediocrity.

I promise you, this is a rare instance of me butting in and won’t become a habit. If offended, I truly apologize.”

To his credit, @lolled (torum.com) did not get offended. In fact, he thanked me for the advice.

This shows a level of wisdom and maturity rarely seen in people of my own generation; much less so, in young people like @lolle (torum.com)

From this OG, Major Props, my friend.
