IJCH — Inside JaiChai’s Head
(Meaning: My Warped, Personal Opinions and Musings)

From the Author:

Salutations.

I am JaiChai.

And if I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting you before, I’m delighted to make your acquaintance now.

I invite you to interact with everyone, learn and have as much fun as possible!

For my returning online friends, “It’s always great to see you again!”

There’s a Lander (member) I met on Torum.com.

He goes by the ID of @startagain. In addition to being scary smart and possessing an endless supply of sarcastic humor, we share similar contrarian views on most of life’s ridiculous dogma and foibles.

I recommend you check out his profile and posts: https://www.torum.com/u/startagain.

Anyway, @startagain posted an announcement about UHIVE’s launch.

In it, the UHIVE platform is actively looking for content moderators and currently accepting applications.

After reading UHIVE’s notice, I decided to apply.

The application requires an answer to this question: “Why do you want to be a content moderator?”

Here’s my response:

Why do I want to be a content moderator? In order to answer that question, I must submit my thoughts on the task at hand; then describe what I consider the defining attributes of a great content moderator.

The inherent limitations of online interactions is a challenge.

Humor, demeanor and context can’t be easily conveyed through mere text on a screen. Much can easily be misconstrued. Video chat is less opaque, but is often fake, intentionally manipulated to mask or deflect an underlying agenda.

That’s why first and foremost, all moderators must be good “listeners and watchers” first, then thoughtful, clear communicators.

IMHO, great moderators epitomize equity, responsibility and integrity. They are generous with their praise and information; while “moderate” in the curtailment of member privileges.

I personally enjoy respectful, entertaining, educational and inspirational online engagement.

And in the spirit of the Magna Carta Protocol, I would be honored to assist all members and moderators in maintaining a community-wide atmosphere of open, friendly and honest communication — free from malicious trolls and devoid of draconian punishments by the platform.

As a parting shot, let me say that this won’t be my first rodeo. Many years ago, I served as a moderator for the XRPTalk forum. And I still remember that exciting and enlightening experience with a smile.

Sincerely, JaiChai.

About the Author:

Believing that school was too boring, he dropped out of High School early; only to earn an AA, BS and MBA in less than 4 years much later in life — while working full-time as a Navy/Marine Corps Medic.

In spite of a fear of heights and deep water, he performed high altitude, free-fall parachute jumps and hazardous diving ops in deep, open ocean water.

After 24 years of active duty, he retired in Asia.

Since then, he’s been a full-time, single papa and actively pursuing his varied passions (Writing, Disruptive Technology, Computer Science and Cryptocurrency — plus more hobbies too boring or bizarre for most folk).

He lives on an island paradise with his girlfriend, teenage daughter and two dogs.
