(IJCH) Inside JaiChai’s Head — Musings about the movie “DUNE 2021”
First let me say that I’ve been a “DUNE” fan for ages.
Over the years, I’ve watched every movie and television version of “DUNE” up to the present.
And I just now finished watching the “DUNE 2021” movie.
TBH, I like this version better than the rest.
Initial reviews are at the ~74 % approval level and Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 8/10 rating.
IMHO, the cinematography and special effects are amazing.
The cast brings a different, more gritty flavor to their characters; while staying true to their depictions in the 1965 novel by Frank Herbert.
My only complaint is that it should have been titled “DUNE 2021 Part One”.
This 2.5 hour movie ends right after the Harkonnens attack Arrakis and demolish House Atreides.
Paul and his mother escape to the Desert to find the Fremmin.
If you know the “DUNE saga”, there’s plenty more of the story to produce multiple sequels to this movie
